“What Does Living For Christ Mean To You?”
“What Does Living For Christ Mean To You?”
“”For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
Philippians 1:21
We live in a society filled with people whose actions and
motives are due to some sort of peer pressure. The Apostle
Paul was a man of true conviction, unwavering concerning the
thoughts of others. If the child of God would grasp this
concept and apply it to his life, he would grow in boldness, and
his joy wouldn’t be predicated on circumstances.
Notice the second and third words of today’s verse: to me.
Paul did not care whether or not his stance was a popular
position, nor did he concern himself with how people
perceived him. Despite being in prison during the writing of
Philippians, Paul focused heavily on Christian joy in the letter.
How could this be? It was simply because his joy was not
determined by circumstances. He was truly sold out to Jesus
Christ, and he looked at life as a “win-win” situation. He
knew the Christian life was the best life to live, but he knew
that dying and going to Heaven would be even better, for he
would be with Christ.
Paul didn’t care what anyone else did or thought when it
came to serving Christ Jesus. He knew it would bring true joy,
and he knew the only thing better than living for Christ was to
be with Jesus. When our joy isn’t based on the demands of
others, but rather rooted in a life of service for our King, it will
not waiver when unexpected and overwhelming
circumstances arise. – A.W.
