A Sinner Like Me – Luke 19:10

“A Sinner Like Me”
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which
was lost. ” Luke 19:10
Personally, I love the old hymns and Gospel songs that
resonate in the depths of my redeemed soul; the lyrics come
flying back to my memory (and that is a miracle that I can
remember the words!), and even the tunes have made their
indelible imprint on my mind (most of the time!) However,
recently I heard a song that I might have heard in the past, but it
really impacted me with its melodic music and incredibly
impressive words, and I think it is called, “To Rescue a Sinner
Like Me!” Read these couple of lines:
To rescue a sinner like me,
He abandoned His throne,
And His kingdom above;
To Rescue a Sinner Like Me!
Now, if that doesn’t put you on “shout-in’ ground,” I don’t
know what it is going to take!
Our verse today entails the mission that Jesus Christ, the
Son of God, was on when He came to this sin-drowned
earth-He came to seek and to save the lost … like you and me.
He bought us with His own blood on Calvary and sought us, as
the Holy Spirit dealt with our sin-damaged souls, with one
main motive in mind- “to rescue sinners” like you and me.
What a wonderful Saviour is Jesus my Lord (now there’s an
old hymn), to rescue sinners like us! “The Lord is not slack
concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is
longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,
but that all should come to repentance” (II Peter 3:9). – T.G.
