A young friend of mine responded to my post untiled “The Seditious Six” in partial defense of them, he wrote “On the other hand … we are not at war with Venezuela, and that “ordering troops to fire on any boat” including “any civilian boat” is an “illegal order.” He wrote, “Maybe troops do need to be reminded that they swore an oath to the Constitution and not a person.”
I’m going to respond to some of this only because it represents statements made as a matter of fact that are matters of fact. But they do represent the degree to which the thinking of some of even the most conservative and patriotically thinking people is being influenced by the Democrat Party, the mainstream media and the rest of the Left in America today.

First: The President of the United States and Commander in chief of our armed forces has designated certain illegal immigrant criminal gangs, Islamic terrorists groups, insurrectionist organizations such as Antifa and drug cartels as ‘terrorist organizations.” The people of Venezuela have had their country hijacked by Nicolas Maduro, who lost the 2024 presidential election there, and imprisoned his political opposition (much like the Democrats attempted with Donald Trump). Maduro has established himself as the fraudulent, authoritarian head of the government and is using his position to further his criminal enterprise and in the process, do as much damage as possible to the United States of America.
Maduro is recognized by the U. S. Department of Justice and worldwide as being the head of the Venezuelan Sinaloa drug cartel, and a facilitator of Tren de Aragua (Both of these have been officially designated by the United States as global terrorist organizations and both of these are responsible for the deaths and ongoing deaths of thousands of Americans.
Secondly: The U. S. has not declared war, and has no intention on declaring war on the country of Venezuela. Our President, the Secretary of War and others in the current administration have made this clear. Even the mainstream media has not gone so far as to manufacture fake news to the contrary.
Thirdly: During the Vietnam War, the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese Army either contracted with or commandeered the persons of civilians and/or their vehicles, boats, rickshaws, pedicabs (I was personally a near-victim of one of these), etc. to transports materials or serve as human booby traps to kill our people. None of these civilians were considered off limits or immune to any lethal force needed to stop them. It is always this way in war.
Fourthly: The president has taken an oath to uphold the U. S. Constitution which is the written embodiment of what constitutes American government. Our Declaration of Independence outlines the core principles of our government in its preamble with the phrase “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
The first duty of those in government and certainly of the head of our government is to protect the “life, liberty and pursuit of happiness” of American citizens. For decades now presidents and congresses have failed the American people miserably in this first duty. Congress, for example, has for decades refused to assume its responsibility regarding declaring war and has improperly delegated this responsibility to presidents. The U. S. Congress. hasn’t declared a war since 1941. Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan are only a few most recent examples of “military conflict” engaged in without any congressional declaration.
So here we are. Thanks to the Democrats and complicit Republicans, we have experienced a literal invasion by between 15 and 20 million illegals from all over the world who are swarming our country. These include countless terrorist cells trained and embedded here to do us no good. Meanwhile, half of our Congress is demonstrating its determination to support and protect all these illegal invaders in every way they can. Add to this the embrace of raw communism by the Democrat Party made clear by its tolerance of people such as Bernie Sanders and its endorsement of marxists such as the mayor-elect of New York City.
So here we are: with cartels flooding our population; with drugs that are doing the equivalent of what an enemy does with its bombs when it targets and unloads on a country. We have thug governments behind all this with “civilians” engaged as crews on drug boats and as snipers in our cities. We have a citizenry that has been radicalized mentally against their own nation, and more who have become so unreasonable in their thinking that they are a threat to any hope of our deliverance from the terrible straits we are in.
Here we are: when people who hardly if ever voiced a peep of protest against the government overreach of past presidents have their magnifying glasses out and their imaginations working overtime to find fault; fault with those who admittedly are not without fault, but who, against seemingly impossible odds, at a time when our country has never been more on the verge of destruction, are doing what they can to preserve our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
