“Disciplined Trusting”
“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country … unto a land that I will shew thee:” Genesis 12:1<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By faith Abraham … went out, not knowing whither he went. “
Hebrews 11:8
It takes discipline to turn one’s life over to God with all of
the plans and preconceived notions of man. Faith is a form of
discipline. Many professing believers have adopted the myth
that trusting God is enlisting in a life of ease, comfort and
uninterrupted pleasure. Actually, trusting God (after
salvation) with one’s life is disciplining oneself to allow God
to control all the options, all adversities and all final decisions.
Many believers say, “I am trusting God,” but they have no idea
what that means. They are seeking to fit a religious
community, or they are trying to respond to peer pressure that
uses the “trust God” or “pray about it” as a cliche to
manipulate others to play spiritual “follow the leader.”
Biblically trusting God means obeying the Word of God
and placing no personal restrictions upon what plan He is
operating on for each of us. Biblically trusting means
avoiding contributions about what we should do from friends
who may or may not have our well-being in mind. Biblically
trusting means not having to know in advance from God what
He has in store for us. It means resting completely upon Him
for both the process and the product.
We recall, “He [Abraham] staggered not at the promise of
God … ” (Rom. 4:20); ” … considered not his own body now
dead ,… ” (vs. 19); ” … believed, even God, who … calleth those
things which be not as though they were. ” (vs. 17); and, “Who
against hope believed in hope ,… ” (vs. 18). That is disciplined, biblically trusting God! -G.G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
