Daily Devotion in II Corinthians 11<\/strong>

Daily Nugget:<\/strong>One of Paul\u2019s concerns for the church at Corinth was that it would fall for false teachings (II Corinthians 11:3). He was troubled that someone would preach \u201canother Jesus\u201d (II Corinthians 11:4).
The preacher knew very well that there was only one Jesus. His sarcastic remark was to alert the Corinthians to be wary of one preaching any other doctrine than what Paul had taught them. Paul taught them the truth, undefiled and often directly from God. 
Even at that time, others were corrupting the truth. Those teaching their ideas and not what the Word of God said were not of God (II Corinthians 11:13-14). Paul warned the church that those teachers were motivated by Satan (II Corinthians 11:14). They may have sounded or even looked \u201cChristian\u201d; however, their purpose was not to glorify God but to separate and weaken the believers.
Satan\u2019s ploy in this way is still going strong today. He does not have much imagination. Perhaps the enemy of God figures if it worked in Paul\u2019s day, it will also work today. Unfortunately, that thinking would be correct.
Today, people give the preacher more credence than the Word of God. They are often more interested in if he is articulate, educated, or friendly than if he is true to the teaching of God\u2019s Word. In many instances, they would leave the church if he did preach all the Bible has to say. That is why so many preachers watch what they preach. Too many will not preach against adultery, false bibles, Hell, and sin because they don\u2019t want to offend anyone. It\u2019s a shame because one of the purposes of preaching the truth is to \u201coffend\u201d people into not sinning.
After preaching a watered-down philosophy, it is not far-fetched to preach \u201canother Jesus.\u201d The clues that this is going on are often, \u201cthe Bible doesn\u2019t mean\u2026\u201d, \u201cthe Bible was mistranslated, and it doesn\u2019t really say\u2026\u201d, or even \u201cJesus meant\u2026.\u201d What Paul warned the early church about what was happening is still a frightening reality today. Beware of teachers that do not preach all the truths from God\u2019s Word.

Today\u2019s Reading:<\/strong>II Corinthians 11<\/em>1 Would to God ye could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.<\/em>2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.<\/em>3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.<\/em>4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.<\/em>5 \u00b6 For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.<\/em>6 But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.<\/em>7 Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?<\/em>8 I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.<\/em>9 And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.<\/em>10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.<\/em>11 Wherefore? because I love you not? Marked Men<\/strong>
In the Word of God, several men and groups have been or will be physically and visibly marked by God. At a glance it was, or will be possible, to tell for whom they stood. Were they standing for the cause of Christ, or did they choose to stand against God?
The first man to be marked by God was Cain, the murderer of his brother, Abel. God cursed Cain for his sin by promising that his farming efforts would be for naught and that he would spend the rest of his life without a permanent home; he would be a vagabond (Genesis 4:12).  To keep others from killing Cain, God placed a mark on Cain. 
The Bible does not further describe what this mark was. Whatever the branding was, one look at Cain, and the people knew he was under the special care of God, and that none should harm him.
Others that will be marked will include 144,000 Jewish, virgin men that will be a group of soul-winners in the beginning of the future, seven-year tribulation (Rev. 7:3-8). God will place His seal, His marking, on their foreheads (Rev. 7:3). The marking will be God\u2019s name (Rev. 14:1), and it will clearly identify them as servants of God at a time when the inhabitants of Earth will not tolerate anyone that stands for God. 
Those evangelists will win many to the cause of Christ and pluck many out of Hell\u2019s grasp. Their efforts will result in the soul-winners deaths, but they will have a special position in Heaven for their stand for Christ.
Another group that will voluntarily have a mark placed on their hand or forehead will also be seen during the tribulation period (Rev. 13:15-18). They will be told that they will not be able to buy or sell unless they have the mark of 666 placed on them. In doing so, they will be branding themselves as part of the anti-christ\u2019s and false prophet\u2019s systems. They might temporarily be able to get food, and what they need to survive; but they will mark themselves as enemies of God and will end up in Hell!
These, and others in the Bible, were visibly identified as being for or against God. Although, we are not marked physically, we, too, can be marked. God knows the sway of our heart and our allegiance to or against Him. He knows what we do for Him, and the value we place on abiding by His commandments. We are \u201cmarked\u201d in His eyes.
The unsaved world can also often see how we, who claim to be Christians, are \u201cmarked.\u201d They see if we are boldly living for Him, or if we will ashamedly back down on biblical principles to blend in with those around us.
Our refusal to pray in a public restaurant, in fear of what others think, will mark us as being like all others that do not claim to be Christians. A cowardly decision not to tell our friends and acquaintances about God\u2019s way of salvation or other biblical teachings will also brand us as being like everyone else, in their eyes. However, a verbal stand for biblical righteousness when we may receive persecution from others will boldly mark us for whom we stand in God\u2019s eyes and on-lookers.
The world is looking for ones with the Truth.  They do not know where to look. Unfortunately, many are looking in the wrong places for answers. If you are a Christian, and you cross paths with those unsaved, what markings are they seeing in your behavior and character? Do they know from your actions and words that you are a child of God, or have you hidden Whom you are standing for? For which side are you marked: God\u2019s or Satan\u2019s?\u201cAnd if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; \u2026 but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.\u201d Jos. 24:15<\/em>

Will we bring honor to the One that died for us? Will we endure and be faithful to tell others and be the Christian testimony God desires of us?

Also, pray for her friend Shoshanah who is sick. Another friend, who is battling cancer, is now confined to the bed as she has been falling.The Rodriguezs thank all for praying that Dennis would get an appointment to do another procedure to rid another large kidney stone. It will be done on Nov. 14, around 2 P. M. Please continue to pray!Pray for Connee Burton\u2019s brother, Roger, whose cancer has returned. He is also dealing with severe pain and a fractured collarbone that is not healing. The long-awaited answer to Lamar and Wanda Norris\u2019 prayer request is promised next week! Praise the Lord! Continue to pray that Lamar\u2019s health will improve.
