“Communication”<\/p>\n\n\n\n


“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the
world are clearly seen, … ” Romans 1:20a<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Paul was a misfit. When he came to a place like Athens,
the crusty apostle clashed with the d\u00e9cor, a classic example of
oil and water. He was a monotheistic Jew in the middle of
polytheistic Gentiles. He was a narrow-minded, former
Pharisee, surrounded by broad-minded philosophers. He was
one idol-hating Christian among many idol-worshiping
pagans. Paul was outnumbered, out voted, and our witted.
However, it was not long before the Athenians realized that
they could not trifle with Paul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


When it came to communicating, Paul was in a class by
himself! Read the depth of what he said in his sermon that
begins, ” … Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are
too superstitious … I found an altar with this inscription, TO
THE UNKNOWN GOD … ” (Acts 17:22-23). He continued in
verses 24-31, to gain attention, using relevant illustrations,
then presented sound theology in understandable terms. His
words were personal and applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Quality communication is at the heart of ministry. Be it a
children’s Sunday school class or preaching a sermon from the
pulpit. One speaks, many listen. Some believe. It is the
David, facing Goliath principle-one plus God. It is however,
preparing the heart, sharpening the mind, and delivering the
Gospel with care, sensitivity, timing and clarity. It is the
difference between slopping hogs and feeding sheep. Keep on
