“Ben (evol) ence”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence:
and likewise also the wife unto the husband.” <\/em>I Corinthians 7:3<\/p>\n\n\n\n


As a dyslexic member of society to some degree, I saw this
word benevolence and immediately noticed the definitive
motivation behind a benevolent person-LOVE (or evol)!
The textbook definition of benevolence is: disposed to doing
good as an individual and\/or organized for the purpose of
doing good, as a benevolent group.
Being saved and a glad recipient of God’s benevolent
goodness that has been extended to us, it only seems right that
we would be giving individuals and part of a beneficent
organization-the church! We would be people that see needs
and meet those needs. Do you see those who need help and do
you help? Does the person in front of you have too many
groceries and not enough money, so the bread has to be left off,
joined by a little embarrassment? Do you respond by saying,
“Add those loaves to my bill.” And then quietly pay for them.
Do you see the man with one leg and a crutch begging and pass
him by or pass him a buck or two. Do you see the widow’s
need, the orphan’s lack? The man without a job and yes, he’s
looking, but … ?
The benevolence in our text today has to do mainly with
the marital relationship, but hey, if there should be any place
where compassionate, kind-hearted acts of benevolence reign,
it should be the home! Do you see the love in ben(evol)ence?
Have a happy day of heart-shaped chocolate, red roses and
