“Protecting Freedom”
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble
themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their
wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14
God did not want Solomon’s accomplishments in the will
of God to overshadow personal holiness in the will of God.
We need to protect freedom so that freedom can protect us.
True freedom is the result of a nation’s right relationship with
God. “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free
indeed” (John 8:36).
Even fundamental churches miss the most important
element in the “formula for revival” (turn from their wicked
ways;). Freedom can only survive when holiness has the same
priority with the people that it has with God. It is not
perfection that God speaks about, but it is a willing
compliance with Him that He is concerned about. Praying for
revival will not bring revival, if the other three elements are
ignored. When churches and individual believers practice
‘preferred” sins and pray for revival, revival will not come.
Turning from one’s wicked ways will occur when the first
three elements are genuine: pray, seek my face, and humble
themselves. Superficial spirituality will not protect holiness,
and, therefore, it will not protect freedom. True freedom is the
result of righteousness! “But as he which hath called you is
holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is
written, Be ye holy; for I am holy ” (I Peter 1:15 & 16). – G.G.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
