The church was organized by Rev. Abraham Marshall, of Kiokee, in 1788, and Andrew Bryan continued its pastor until his death, in October, 1812. He stood exceedingly high in public estimation, and brought great numbers into his church. When he was young he was persecuted for preaching; but when he died the Sunbury Association adopted a complimentary resolution of regret concerning him, and the white Baptist and Presbyterian ministers of Savannah delivered addresses in his honor. From the Baptist Encyclopedia by William Cathcart My personal photo(Note this church actually goes back a bit further than the (re) organization by Abraham Marshall- it is one of two branches started of Silver Bluff Baptist Church which was constituted by Wait Palmer (who also baptized Shubal Stearnes) that were scattered during the Revolutionary War. It could be debated which was the first pastor as George Leile actually pastored this group (and was at Silver Bluff) before it was reorganized by Marshall.
