Bryant, Rev. Daniel, one of the pioneers among Ohio Baptists, was born in New Jersey in the year 1800. At the age of twenty-one he was converted, and united with the Baptist church at Lyons, N. Y. In the year 1824, having removed to Ohio, he was ordained by the Mill Creek church. For more than fifty years he devoted himself to the building up of the cause of Christ in Southern Ohio. In the face of great opposition he was the friend of missions and ministerial education. When in 1836 the old Miami Association excluded the churches of Cincinnati, Middletown, Lebanon, and Dayton for sympathy with missions, Bryant went cheerfully with the minority. He was liberal in giving, steadfast in his convictions, simple in his life. His labors were abundant, and often attended with hardship. He died in the year 1875, with the harness on, having been stricken down in the pulpit while preaching, only a few hours before he passed away. He was a favorite with both old and young, and will be long remem- bered as one of the sainted few who laid the foun- dations of Baptist churches in Ohio, and for many years preached in faithful simplicity the Word of life. \u2018 From the Baptist Encyclopedia by William Cathcart <\/p>\n\n\n\n
