Daily View New Testament Devotions<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Read a New Testament chapter every day and a short devotion about what was read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DAILY VIEW DevotionDaily Nugget:<\/strong>\u201cEvery way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.\u201d Proverbs 21:2\u201cAll the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.\u201d Proverbs 16:2<\/em>
Every person believes they know what is best for them. They usually decide what they think is right and good. However, their beliefs are often wrong in God\u2019s eyes.
Unfortunately, with that self-centered philosophy and thinking, what is sin and wrong in God\u2019s eyes often becomes acceptable and right, especially in godless eyes. Many have not figured out that if they reject God\u2019s ways their ideas and actions often will fail.
Proverbs 21 reveals some consequences of refusing God\u2019s ways and laws. The ungodly believe:# Their lies often are justified by what they think they will gain. However, God will not bless ill-gotten gains, and they will find what they believe they accomplished will not last and may be a hindrance rather than useful.\u201cThe getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.\u201d Proverbs 21:6Gaining something without earning it or stealing it is a faster way to get what they want. Unfortunately, their thievery will cost them more than they thought possible. Many thieves behind prison bars will attest to that fact.\u201cThe robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.\u201d Proverbs 21:7<\/em># The one who lives in defiance to the way God commands will not reap consequences for their sin. However, one may face loneliness and social rejection for their rebellion against God. One may find oneself only associated with those in the same sinking \u201csin-boat\u201d as they are.\u201cIt is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.\u201d Proverbs 21:15\u201cThe soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.\u201d Proverbs 21:10\u201cThe man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.\u201d Proverbs 21:16<\/em># They should be committed and determined to \u201cfun\u201d while they can. However, they will find they have little to show for their lives. What gives them temporary happiness will rob their life of having real meaning.\u201cHe that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.\u201d Proverbs 21:17\u201cThere is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.\u201d Proverbs 21:20<\/em># It is not necessary to work in this life. However, those who refuse to labor will be destroyed and robbed of what they could have obtained. Their laziness will cheat them out of what they could have made of themselves.\u201cThe desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.\u201d Proverbs 21:25<\/em>
Living a life contrary to God’s desires costs everyone a price that is often regretted. A godless life ungoverned by God\u2019s commandments is not the \u201ceasy\u201d way of living. It creates more hurdles, difficulties, and problems than may be realized. 
Live your life the way God commands. You will avoid many hardships and will have God\u2019s perfect leadership along the way.

Today\u2019s Reading:<\/strong>Proverbs 211 \u00b6 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.2 \u00b6 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.3 \u00b6 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.4 \u00b6 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.5 \u00b6 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.6 \u00b6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.7 \u00b6 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.8 \u00b6 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.9 \u00b6 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.10 \u00b6 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.11 \u00b6 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.12 \u00b6 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.13 \u00b6 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.14 \u00b6 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.15 \u00b6 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.16 \u00b6 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.17 \u00b6 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.18 \u00b6 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.19 \u00b6 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.20 \u00b6 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.21 \u00b6 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.22 \u00b6 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.23 \u00b6 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.24 \u00b6 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.25 \u00b6 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.27 \u00b6 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?28 \u00b6 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.29 \u00b6 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.30 \u00b6 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.<\/em>

An English sergeant once stationed in Egypt tells this incident about himself:\u201cThere was a private in the same company who was saved in Malta before the regiment came to Egypt. We gave that fellow an awful time. 
\u201cOne terrible night, he came in very tired and very wet. Before getting into bed, he got down to pray. My boots were heavy with wet mud, and I let him have one on one side of the head and the other on the other side. He just went on with his prayers.
