“Hands Off!”<\/strong>
“Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It
is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid
fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every
woman have her own husband.” I Corinthians 7:1 & 2<\/em>
Paul said that it was not good for a man to touch a woman.
Why? You see, man is affected by looking. Women are
affected by touch. If a man looks and is stirred, he can turn and
walk away and nothing ever happened. But if he touches her,
then the man and the woman are affected, and things may get
out of hand. Impurity is already taken place in the mind and
heart. It may be carried out physically sooner or later. God
says I will avoid fornication if I will not allow myself this
situation. Handling and touching arouses the old, carnal
nature. Keep your mind, your heart, and your thoughts pure
by keeping your “hands off.”
It is good for a man not to even touch a woman. The Bible
is not saying that it’s sinful to shake hands at church. But on
the other hand, I’m not for using a handshake as an excuse for
getting hold of someone’s hand and caressing it, and standing
there talking for five minutes while you hold hands. We need
to keep a distance from these scenarios and faithful to the one
to which one is married.
It’s just good wisdom and common sense to establish a
standard that says, “Hands Off!” If you don’t touch, then
there’s no open door to pursue it further into temptation and
