“Scriptures Model Family”
“Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his
wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her
husband.” Ephesians 5:33<\/em>
While walking on the path of Scripture, I had the great
fortune of slipping up to the window of a home. With one look
inside, I beheld a family peacefully dwelling together.
Everyone was well behaved and polite. Each member knew
their role, their responsibility and their respect for each other
was a sight to behold! I overheard them complimenting each
other, as various contributions were made within this
comfortable setting. They were a model family indeed, and it
seemed, for a moment, that the world stood still as I longed to
know more concerning the ingredients of their recipe of a
home.
The central figure in this scene is the husband. Watch
carefully how he loves everyone under his roof. The very love
of God has been poured into his life, and so he gently pours
some into his family, until every vessel is full and running
over. Then for a moment, the attention shifts to the lady of the
house. If I didn’t know better, I would think that she is walking
on air, as she treats her husband as if he were a king, and this
act of kindness is only her reaction to the one who has cared for
her like a queen. The rich love of this husband and wife has
overflowed into their children. Just watch how they obey their
parents … with one last glance we leave them in prayer as they
