Snowflakes in Safe Zones or The School of Hard Knocks <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lam. 3:27 “It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.” (We have a generation today who have grown up in the most prosperous time in our nation’s history. Despite people telling how terrible it is, they’ve never had it so good with gadgets, innovations, and usually nothing too good for them by their parents. Unlike other ages when kids were kicked out of the house to fin for themselves and survive, they especially cling to Mom and Dad’s pocketbooks. This may be a sweeping generalization, but it is true in many households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have a new name for them called “snowflakes.” They are so innocent and never have encountered anything that would cause them stress. They particularly don’t want their children to hear dissenting opinions, especially if they are opposed to the liberal ideology of their parents. They have safe zones in colleges and other places so they will not be harmed by dissenting opinions, especially if they are not politically correct or don’t fit into the changing moral atmosphere and banned free speech of what they don’t want them to hear. They want them to avoid trying to earn a living, especially if they continue to give them everything. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These so-called “loving parents” don’t realize they are severely hurting their children with this mindset and false nurturing. Responsibility must be learned, whether we accept it at home or when we leave home. Even hardship and affliction are ways of learning responsibility and growing up to be real people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jeremiah looked at Judah, destroyed and even his life. Hard knocks were their lot, taught through affliction and hardship. They had borne the yoke and now would be stronger for it. This is more than we can say for those who feel they are being protected by hardship and instead need to grow to be mature adults. We do not shun it but pick ourselves up and seek to keep going with a great understanding of what we have learned through hardship. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
