Yesterday at 4:00\u202fAM<\/strong><\/a>  \u00b7 Did you know there\u2019s a surprise in the genealogy of Jesus? A surprise because He was virgin born?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Did you know that God made an everlasting covenant with King David that promised the Messiah would one day sit on his throne (Ps. 89:4, 36-37)? Did you also know that God later cursed the kingly blood line of David because of Jeconiah’s sins (Jeremiah 22:30)? So the question to ask is this: “How could Jesus be the heir to David\u2019s throne if the royal line was cursed?” Not to worry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew\u2019s gospel opens by demonstrating how Jesus’ genealogy was traced through the kingly line of David’s descendants all the way to Joseph, proving that Jesus had the legal right to the throne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luke\u2019s account traces Jesus’ genealogy through the bloodline of another son of David (Nathan), which ends with Mary\u2019s father, Heli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that Jesus was a blood descendant of David with a legal right to the throne, thereby side stepping the curse! Isn’t it amazing how God can discipline Jeconiah for his sins and curse the kingly line of David, yet side-step that curse to cause His own Son to inherit the throne of David?! But nothing is impossible for the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus is the King of Israel, the King of kings, Savior, and Messiah who alone is the rightful heir to David\u2019s throne! Praise the Lord!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
