Why do some experts advocate for nuclear or thorium reactors over renewable energy sources?<\/strong>

The power characteristics of nuclear and renewable energy are quite different. Nuclear can provide a constant source of energy, whereas renewables are battling to overcome their nature of intermittent electricity, owing to weather and time of day. Nuclear power is significantly more reliable (dispatchable) than renewables such as wind and solar. Even when there is no wind or sun, nuclear power facilities continue to produce energy.

People are misled into believing that renewable energy is inexpensive, although this assumption is based on inaccurate data. Initial expenses are examined in isolation, based solely on nameplate power, without taking into account the necessary storage or backup, nor are installation lifespans included. The lifespan of wind and solar energy facilities is between 20 and 25 years until replacement, whereas a nuclear energy plant has a potential lifespan of 60 to 80 years.

In fact, both wind and solar energy are ruinously expensive, and their costs are not declining. Rather, as their low intensity drives extraordinary demand for raw materials like copper, cobalt and lithium, their costs will inevitably continue to rise.
