Younger woman: \u201cHey Miss Anne, I was wondering. I really want to grow as a wife and mom and better serve the Lord in my home and with my husband and kids. Can you help me?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Older woman: \u201cThat is great. We are just about to start our newest woman\u2019s ministry discipleship rotation, and this time I will teaching the women Nehemiah and Ezra!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YW: \u201cOh, that\u2019s well, but I really want to learn how to love and honor my husband better and how to keep the home running more orderly. It\u2019s been so stressful, especially when he gets home from work. I have really been struggling with\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OW: \u201cand then, once a month, the woman\u2019s book group is going to be doing Grudem\u2019s Systematic Theology\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YM: \u201cYeah, my husband is already going through a catechism with the family though, and aren\u2019t the elders doing a theology class before church during the discipleship class every Sunday morning?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OW: \u201cand we are memorizing the 1689 London Baptist\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YW: \u201cWell, my husband already has us memorizing Psalms together. I just don\u2019t know as tired and as little sleep as I am getting if I could really add any of this in. Do you know how to get little kids to sleep better and to sleep more quickly? We often aren\u2019t getting to bed until after ten. and my husband has to be up for work at 4:30 am\u2026 \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OW: \u201cand you should consider coming on our quarterly four day women\u2019s retreat. All the older moms make it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YW: \u201cWell, um\u2026. I am already really badly behind on the cleaning and laundry and cooking, and we just started homeschool with our oldest and we don\u2019t have anyone to watch the kids. What I am looking for is someone who can teach me how to keep my home better and have it run more smoothly, for instance, how do you get any laundry done with three under five? They seem to make messes faster than\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OW: \u201c\u2026 This quarter\u2019s event is Marla and me teaching the book of Ephesians!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YW: \u201cDidn\u2019t the elders of the church just preach through the book of Ephesians? Doesn\u2019t the Bible say it is their job to teach Bible and theology and if I have questions I should ask my husband?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OW: \u201cand I bet you would really benefit from reading JI Packer\u2019s Knowing God\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YW: \u201cProbably, but right now I just really want to know how to manage my home and love my husband and kids better\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OW: \u201cHopefully see you Wednesday for the ladies tea and bible study!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

YW: \u201cWell, we have doctor\u2019s appointments that morning, and I still need to find someone to sit with the two younger kids while I run Silas into\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t too far off from what we personally experienced, and what we have seen in many churches for two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.\u201d Titus 2:3-5<\/p>\n\n\n\n
