HUSBANDS CAN AND SHOULD MAKE IT EASY FOR THEIR WIVES TO SUBMIT TO THEM<\/a><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWives submit to your own husbands, as unto the Lord.\u201d \u2014 Ephesians 5:22<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Christians should obey God whether it\u2019s easy or hard for them to do it. But at the same time, Christians should do what they can to make it easier for others to obey God. This is basic to God\u2019s command: \u201cBear ye one another\u2019s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ<\/em>\u201d (Gal. 6:2).
For example: Ephesians 5:22 says,: \u201cWives submit to your own husbands, as unto the Lord.\u201d <\/em>Husbands can<\/em> and should<\/em> make it easyfor their wives to do this. Those who do, take very seriously, God\u2019s command: \u201cHusbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it\u201d <\/em>(v. 24).

Husbands who demonstrate Christ-like love for their wives make their ambition for their wives\u2019 welfare and happiness obvious to them, and in so doing, make it easier for their wives to submit to them as they should. Wives conscious of such love will welcome opportunities to submit to their husbands, and their obedience will free them up spiritually, mentally and emotionally to live their lives \u201cmore abundantly\u201d (John 10:10)\u2014an ambition Christ has for His church and that husbands should have for their wives (Eph. 5:24-27).
There are no preconditions involved in God command that husbands love their wives as Christ loved and loves the church. No man is justified in waiting until his wife is satisfactorily submissive to him before<\/em> he begins to love her like he should. Christian men are commanded in this area, as they are in every area, to \u201cwalk by faith, and not by sight<\/em>\u201d (2 Cor. 5:7).
Husbands who love their wives like Christ loved and loves the church are men who dwell with their wives \u201caccording to knowledge;<\/em>\u201d they know that a wife, due to the curse of sin, is the \u201cweaker vessel<\/em>,\u201d (1 Pet. 3:7), and that this explains the aversion wives may demonstrate relative to submitting to the authority of their husbands (Gen. 3:16; 1 Tim. 2:12). They know this, and deal with it accordingly.
A man who dwells with his wife \u201caccording to knowledge\u201d knows that his leadership role as the \u201chead of the wife<\/em>\u201d (Eph. 5:23) requires him to assume responsibility for<\/em>, and take the initiative in<\/em>, doing what is right where loving his wife is concerned. He also knows that he can make his wife\u2019s submission infinitely easier by his loving her unconditionally and consistently regardless of reciprocation, etc. See Rom. 5:8; Rev. 1:5; 1 John 4:19.
A man who dwells with his wife \u201caccording to knowledge\u201d also knows that loving her as as he should will bring the awesome power of Christlike love to bear on his marriage, and that this will cause the fruit of the Spirit to be manifested in his life\u2014\u201cThe fruit of the Spirit, which is \u201clove, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,<\/em>\u201d He knows too, that such love, while making it easier<\/em> for his wife to obey God will make it harder<\/em> for her to give any place to the devil in her life (Eph. 4:27).
A man\u2019s good leadership of his family begins and depends on His loving his wife as he should.
