SALVATION IN JOHN 3:16<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16 \u201cFor God \u2026 \u201c<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note The Bible begins with these four words. \u201cIn the beginning God\u201d (Gen. 1:1).\u201d He doesn\u2019t present an argument<\/em> for His existence, He simply announces<\/em> His existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. The solitariness<\/strong> of God<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Note: Deut.. 6:4; Ps. 113:5<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

B. The sovereignty<\/strong> of God<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Isa. 46:9, 10<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Note: God is alone in His omnipotence<\/em>, His omniscience and His omnipresence. consider the question: \u201cWho is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high<\/em>?\u201d (Ps. 113:5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

II. THE MOTIVE OF GOD THAT IS IN VIEW HERE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16b \u201cso loved \u2026 \u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: 1 John 4:8 \u201cGod is Love\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. God\u2019s love is an unfathomable<\/strong> love<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Note: 1 John 3:1 \u201cBehold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note Henry Moorhouse said: \u201cIf I could borrow Jacob\u2019s ladder and climb up into heaven and ask Gabriel, who stands in the presence of the Almighty, to tell me how much love the Father has for the world, all he could say would be: Henry Moorhouse, God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believeth in him should not peris, but have eternal life.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Note: God\u2019s love is infinite, immeasurable, immutable<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. God\u2019s love is undeserved<\/strong> love<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Rom. 3:11b \u201c\u2026 there is none that seeketh after God\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Rom. 5:8 \u201cBut God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1 John 4:10 \u201cHerein is love, <\/em>not that we loved God<\/em>, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Note: Speakers Bible<\/em>, v. 11, p. 199 \u201cOne of the most prevalent notions of God is this: that God is a hard, exorable Being, who has been made mild and forgiving only by the death of Jesus Christ. This great Gospel text teaches just the contrary. It represents God as in love with me already before Christ came \u2013 with all men \u2013 with every man. \u201cGod so loved the world.\u201d And this is not any elect or select portion of the world, but the whole world of human beings that have ever lived, that live now, or that ever will live on the face of the earth; not the world of the \u201celect, but the world of sinners\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

III. THE <\/strong>MISSION<\/strong><\/em> OF GOD THAT IS IN VIEW HERE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16c \u201cthe world \u2026 \u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: 1. The scope of this mission; universal and non-exclusive of anyone (1 Pet. 3:9; Tit. 2:11; 1 John 2:2; Heb. 2:9; 1 Tim. 2:4; 2. Ps. 145:9).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. It was a mission to a world of ruined<\/strong><\/em> humanity<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Rom. 5:12; Rom. 3:9, 10; 6:23; Eph. 2:1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: This mission was both universal<\/em> and urgent<\/em> in its nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. It was a mission to a world of rebellious<\/strong><\/em> humanity<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Rom. 3:9b-12; Isa. 53:6a; Note: Eph. 2:1-3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Note: This. is a world that celebrates its disbelief in and denial of God (1 John 5:19).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

III. THE <\/strong>METHOD<\/strong><\/em> OF GOD THAT IS IN VIEW HERE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16d \u201c \u2026 he gave his only begotten Son\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: The cross was the consequence<\/em> of God\u2019s love, not the cause<\/em> of it. It was a result<\/em> of His love not the reason<\/em> for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. God acted personally in terms of the revelation<\/strong> of Himself that He provided<\/strong> to<\/em> mankind<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: See 1 Tim. 3:16. The greatest mystery relative to God is in view here<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. God acted personally in terms of the reconciliation<\/strong> to Himself that He made possible<\/strong> for<\/em> mankind<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: 2 Cor. 5:19 \u201cGod was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: 1 Pet. 3:18 \u201cFor Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God<\/strong>, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V. THE <\/strong>MANDATE<\/strong><\/em> OF GOD THAT IS IN VIEW HERE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A. Who<\/strong> this word pertains<\/strong> to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16c \u201cwhosoever believeth in Him\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. There\u2019s a certain class<\/strong> in view here<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16c \u201cwhosoever\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Th\u201dere\u2019s a certain condition<\/strong><\/em> in view here<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16d \u201cbelieve in him\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B. What<\/strong> this Word provides<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Escape<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16d should not perish \u2026 \u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Heb. 2:3 \u201cHow shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Everlasting<\/strong><\/em> life<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: v. 16e \u201cbut have everlasting life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONCLUSION<\/strong>: There are two categories of \u201cwhosoevers.\u201d The question is: \u201cIn which one of these categories do you belong?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. The \u201cwhosoever\u201d of salvation<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Note: John 3:16 \u201cthat whosoever<\/strong><\/em> \u2026 everlasting life\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

2. The \u201cwhosoever\u201d of judgment<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Note: Rev. 20:15 \u201cAnd whosoever<\/strong><\/em> was not found written in the Lamb\u2019s book of life was cast into the lake of fire<\/p>\n\n\n\n
