A Fool’s Follies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bill Brinkworth<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite our pride, many of us have been or are fools in the eyes of God. This is a very humbling thought, but it is God\u2019s opinion and it is the one that matters and not ours. Noah Webster defined foolishness as \u201cvoid of understanding or sound judgment, weak in intellect (applied to general character), unwise, silly, vain, trifling, ridiculous, sinful \u2026\u201d In the book of Proverbs there are at least 42 verses dealing with foolishness. Here is how God defines foolishness in Proverbs: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fool wants to do wrong, and does not think of the consequences:
\n <\/strong>\u201cIt is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.\u201d Proverbs 10:23
\n <\/em>\u201cA wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.\u201d \n Pr. 14:16 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fool listens to his own ideas, and is not concerned about others. He gets angry when others tell him what to do:
\n <\/strong>\u201cHe that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.\u201d
\n Pr. 28:26
\n <\/em>\u201cA fool despiseth his father’s instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.\u201d Pr. 15:5
\n <\/em>\u201cA fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.\u201d Pr. 18:2
\n <\/em>\u201cSpeak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.\u201d Pr. 23:9
\n<\/em>\u201cHe that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.\u201d Pr. 11:29 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fool lets his opinion be known right away:
\n <\/strong>\u201cA fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise [man] keepeth it in till afterwards.\u201d Pr. 29:11
\n <\/em>\u201cA fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.\u201d Pr. 12:16 Also: Pr 13:16
\n <\/em> \u201cA fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.\u201d Pr. 18:<\/em> 6 This fool cannot shut up!
\n \u201cSeest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.\u201d Pr. 29:20 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fool minds everyone else\u2019s business:
\n<\/strong>\u201cIt is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.\u201d Pr. 20:3 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fool does not learn from his mistakes:
\n<\/strong>\u201cAs a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.\u201d Pr. 26:11<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fool does not believe there is a God: (Psalms). <\/strong> Although found in the book of Psalms, here is another person God identifies as a fool.
\n \u201cThe fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good:\u201d Psalms 14:1 Also Ps. 53:1 <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
