“Is It Too Late?” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father ” I Kings 15:11<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asa’s actions seemed to bring the scent of revival back into the monarchy of Judah. In verse 12, he dealt with the sodom-ites in God’s way (cf. Deut. 23:17 & Rom. 1:26-32). The idols were smashed and even his own mother was removed from her throne. Family wickedness was not tolerated or coddled by this good king. Like most of us in our frail flesh, he allowed a little glitch in vs. 14. (He must have enjoyed the mountain vistas). Don’t most of us express a self-indulgent “legitimacy” to some “little” sin, that we think we can get by with\u2014you know, “God understands.” Nonetheless, Asa’s heart was perfect with God throughout his lifetime (vs. 14b).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In verse 15, Asa brought some valuables of his father that had been dedicated to God, and he also brought items that had been designated as holy unto the Lord. One great problem I see in American fundamentalism or just in our churches’ lives, is we have forsaken the dedication and devotion of our spiritual fathers. I have proclaimed in these pages in years past, “Our fathers were not fools.” If we would have listened instead of lampooned some of the dedicated and determined principles of the past, perhaps the place of compromise that we have arrived at could have been avoided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I trust it’s not too late\u2014but it is time, high time to seek the Lord! “It is revival for survival!” \u2014 T.G. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
