What does it cost?&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Answer:<\/strong><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>Ephesians 2:8-9<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>V2:8<\/strong> \u201cThe verse\nsummarizes into one succinct statement the basis for all of the mountain-peak\nblessings thus described. It is all because of God\u2019s grace. <strong>For by grace are ye saved\nthrough faith<\/strong>. The agency through which God\u2019s grace is focused is thus noted.\nIt is faith in Jesus Christ. The two concepts are interrelated. Because we are\naltogether lost, it is only by the grace of God that there is any hope of\nsalvation. Our only recourse therefore is in simple faith to trust Him and His\ngrace. Because salvation is by God\u2019s grace, the only means of appropriating it\nunto ourselves is by turning to Him and trusting in Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hence, <strong>it is not of ourselves<\/strong>. It is zero\npercent of us and one-hundred percent of God. Because of His wonderful grace\nand mercy, <strong><em>it is<\/em><\/strong><strong> the gift of God<\/strong>. A gift by its very nature is offered through the grace of the\ngiver. By its very nature, a gift is not earned nor is of compensation. Rather, it is free. It therefore\ncan only be obtained by freely receiving it. The gospel is profound in its\nsimplicity. It is as simple as reaching out and receiving a free gift. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>V2:9 <\/strong>Moreover, our salvation is <strong>not of works, lest any man should boast<\/strong>. The word\ntranslated as <strong>boast<\/strong> (\u03ba\u03b1\u03c5\u03c7\u03b1\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9 <em>kauchaomai<\/em>) is most commonly\nrendered as \u2018glory.\u2019 The thought is simple. If we could some how or other merit\nsalvation through some sort of work, then we could claim the glory rather than\nGod. But it is not of works.
