\u201cThe good wife is a good housekeeper. The wife who would be happy, and make her home happy and permanently beautiful must work with her hands at the housewifely tasks which the days in turn bring to her. The foundation of wedded happiness is good housekeeping. In other words, good breakfasts, dinners and suppers, a well-kept house, order, system, promptness, punctuality, good cheer \u2013 far more than any young lovers \u2013 dream does happiness in married life depend upon such commonplace things as these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBad housekeeping will soon drive the last vestige of romance out of any home. The wife who will keep the charm of early love unbroken through the years, and in whose home the dreams of the wedding day will come true, must be a good housekeeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt should be understood that for every wife the first duty is the making and keeping of her own home. Her first and best work should be done there, and till it is well done she has no right to go outside to take up other duties. She is to be a \u2018worker at home.\u2019 She must look upon her home as the one spot on earth for which she alone is responsible, and which she must cultivate well for God if she never does anything outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere have been wives who in their zeal for Christ\u2019s work outside have neglected Christ\u2019s work inside their own doors. Let it be remembered that Christ\u2019s work in the home is the first that he give to every wife, and that no amount of consecrated activities in other spheres will atone in this world or the next for the neglect or failure there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInstead of weeping, repining and despairing in hard times, she cheerfully accepts the changed circumstances and becomes a minister of hope and strength. She turns away from luxury and ease to the plainer home, the simpler life, the humbler surroundings without a murmur.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are words were written by J.R. Miller in his book Homemaking<\/a><\/strong>. These words are so foreign to most women these days. Young girls aren\u2019t taught homemaking skills when they are growing up. Mothers, please teach them all throughout their childhood to be good homemakers! It will benefit them all of their days. Teach them to keep their rooms clean and tidy. As soon as they are old enough, let them cook by your side. When they\u2019re older, let them begin fixing meals for the family. Teach them how to clean bathrooms and kitchens. They can do the laundry as they get older. All of these skills are vital for running a clean and tidy home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In past generations, once women were married, they were let go from their jobs. Being a wife and homemaker were valued back then. Everyone knew this was what women needed to put their time and energy in. It\u2019s not only their homes, of course, by into their husbands and children too. This takes a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. Contrary to popular opinion, these jobs are the most important jobs in the world! Pass on your wisdom about the Lord to your children all along the way. Raising godly offspring brings no greater joy, and this is a full-time job and ministry!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.<\/strong><\/em>
