Our ancient forbears were\nkeen in their understanding of this as is born out in ancient record. This lies\nat the root of deeply held convictions that led them to rather go to the stake\nthan to recant their baptism. This is not to say that their Protestant\ndetractors did not believe in a kingdom of their own. The Protestant reformers\nof Catholicism established Christian government which was wed to their state\n\u201cchurch\u201d system. By self-appointment, they undertook the institution of a\nChristianized society that would bring about a thousand years of peace. Thus,\nthe Protestant \u201cchurch\u201d\/government\/society was to reign in <em>proxy<\/em> for the Lord. This state \u201cchurch\u201d kingdom was therefore\nconsidered synonymously with salvation. Children were required to be \u201cbaptized\u201d\ninto it and citizens were taxed to support both the government and its\n\u201cchurch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naturally,\nthe reformers had great antipathy for those commonly called Baptists. The\nBaptists did not recognize the religious organization of the reformers as\nhaving any authority in things dealing with the Kingdom of God. The\nexecutorship of the kingdom was appointed to the Lord\u2019s church. It was not for\nthe Catholic system that came much later, not to its Protestant reformers.\nThose who came to them from Protestantism did so by baptism, which had nothing\nto do with their previous mode of baptism (sprinkling, pouring or immersion).\nIt had everything to do with Scriptural legitimacy. This earned them the name\nof \u2018rebaptizers\u2019 (Anabaptists). The Protestant version of baptism is related to\nsalvation, either mystically or literally (as it is still today). For the\nAnabaptists (Baptists) it was not. Salvation is by grace regardless of baptism.\nBut Scriptural baptism is where the regenerated soul enters into the Lord\u2019s New\nTestament Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, we\nstill have the exact same issues. All Protestants (and neo-Baptists of\nProtestant doctrine) believe in a mystical, baptism of salvation. Their\nimmersion is a picture of that \u201cone true\u201d baptism of regeneration, which is not\nanother. Any baptism that is <em>unto another<\/em>\nbaptism (no matter the legitimate name it claims) is not the ordinance that\nChrist gave His church (Example: <strong>Acts\n19:3<\/strong>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(CONTNUED\nwith The Third Aspect of the Kingdom of God )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thomas E.
