Asquith<\/a><\/li><li><ul><li>3 hours ago<\/li><li><\/li><li>2 min read<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Bible which Came from Preachers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p> \t<em>But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay, Jeremiah 20:9<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\tHistorian and writer Melvin Briggs in his book The Book of Books: The Radical Impact of the King James Bible 1611-2011, makes the following observation about the impact of the King James Bible.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\t<strong>&#8220;The crucial fact that it was a Bible designed to be read aloud, a Bible which came from preachers, has given it a tone which rises seamlessly from page to the tongue.&#8221;<\/strong>  Page 131<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\tAs much reading as I do on the subject of the King James Bible, and as much writing as I do about it, I am amazed that it wasn&#8217;t until today that I stopped to realize one of the great distinguishing aspects of the King James Bible that as far as I know is only matched by the original autographs themselves; it came from preachers.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\tThe King James translators were men charged with preaching the word of God to the English speaking people.  They knew that most people to whom they preached were barely literate.  They also knew that throughout England were more dialects of English than probably exist throughout the world today.  They wrought a work in which the most common laborer in England with the most menial of education, (if any education at all) would glean what knowledge he had of God from the words as he heard them preached and read from a King James Bible.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\tLike in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah when the language of the Bible itself was no longer being commonly taught to the children, our translators strove to make men understand.  <em>So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading, Nehemiah 8:8<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\tIt is no small wonder that it is the highly learned men and women of the universities and their unwitting minions that cast off the words of a King James Bible.  It is a bible designed for the lowest reading levels and for the least educated people.  It is a bible crafted by men who remembered the days in which the Bible was restricted to the masses of men and who yearned to make men see.  Some of these men watched their teachers martyred or imprisoned for the word of God.  How vexing it must be for the various scholars, preachers, and academics to see that despite their century long crusade to replace the living words of God contained in a King James Bible with their high-falutin fluff, the common man still clings to their God given, preacher wrought bible!  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\tHow many of our modern bibles came from preachers burning within with a fire fire kindled by the Holy Ghost to make the lowest of men to understand the highest things of God?      <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purecambridgetext.com\/blog\/categories\/john-asquith\">John Asquith<\/a><\/li><li>\u2022<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purecambridgetext.com\/blog\/categories\/the-english-of-the-text\">The English of the Text<\/a><\/li><li>\u2022<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.purecambridgetext.com\/blog\/categories\/history\">History<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. John M.
