Precious Blood – I Peter 1:19
“Precious Blood”
“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot:” I Peter 1:19
There is nothing cheap about our salvation. It was not
purchased with silver or gold, but with Christ’s precious blood.
Our text teaches that it was sovereign blood. The blood that
was shed on Calvary was not the blood of Adam, but was the
blood of God! Adam’s blood could never save anyone.
Christ’s blood was not contaminated by sin. Jesus had holy
blood and heavenly blood. His own blood flowing through
His veins.
It was sacrificial blood that pardoned us. He went to
Golgotha as a lamb and there died a sacrificial death. This
means He shed His blood willingly for all men. He died in our
place so we could be born again. He did not die for a chosen
few, but gave His life’s blood for all mankind.
Finally, we see that Jesus’ blood was sinless blood. It had
no spot or blemish in or on it. The blood of Christ is on the
Mercy Seat in Heaven today. His blood allows God to look
upon us. As the songwriter said, “When He sees me, He sees
the blood of the Lamb.” One day we will enter through the
gates of our heavenly home, and our only right of entrance will
be the blood of Jesus. Friend, it will be enough to allow us to
enter! The blood of Christ is precious because it is the only
way to gain access to Heaven! -R.G.
