“God Calls Whomever He Wills” “For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14

Some folk think God chooses only from their vineyard, pedigree or family tree to serve Him in full-time Christian service. Over the years, I have observed that God selects His servants from a divinely, dazzlingly and peculiar potpourri of people. The diversity of background, education, looks and whatever other distinguishing factors one might consider is amazing. God calls whomever, however, wherever and whenever He chooses.

Remember, Paul was a professional persecutor that became a powerful preacher of the Gospel.

Moses was a tongue-tied, ex-murderer who became the great deliverer of God’s people from Egyptian bondage and led them diligently for forty years of wilderness wanderings.

David was a lowly shepherd, who became a lion and giant slayer, and eventually the beloved singer of Psalms and the reigning monarch of Israel’s throne.

The following is not original with me and you may know who thought them up first—But Consider: The Call of Compassion—Look on people as sheep without a shepherd. The Call of Capacity—God’s spiritual gifts are to be used to His glory. The Call of Conviction—Convinced that it is God’s will. The Call of Continuance—Desire to continue an existing work. The Call of the Church—Your pastor may ask you to serve in some way. The Call of Christ—An Acts 13:1-3 call of God. Dr. Tom Malone, Sr. used to say, “God not only calls the fit, but He fits those He has called.” — T.G.
