Your Faith Will Be Tried – Patience

“Your Faith Will Be Tried”
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith
worketh patience.” James 1:2-3
Paul surrendered unconditionally to God’s will when he
got saved. God had a plan for Paul to win folks and establish
Bible believing churches. However, Paul faced a big problem
in Jerusalem. The members of the church at Jerusalem didn’t
believe he was preaching truth and were opposed to his
ministry (see Acts 9:26 &27). With good reason, they thought
or surmised. Now, how would Paul be discipled and learn to
start churches? He sure had a good reason not to go to church,
but not good enough to keep him away! Barnabas took him
and helped him with the brethren. Little did he or Paul know
what God would do with their lives. (Chapter 15 of the Book
of Acts records another strange situation and the eventual
separation of these two laborers for the Lord!)
What about you? What kind of offense would it take to
keep you out of church? Have you unconditionally
surrendered to God’s will? If so, you will be tested, and you
may be offended. Take heart, God is often allowing these
trials of our faith. I want to pass! Life is too short and eternity
too important to let offenses keep you from the local church. I
hope you feel the same, too. James also wrote in verse 4 of the
first chapter of his Book, “But let patience have her perfect
work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
Patience with others often softens the hardness of our hearts
and exhibits grace. – C.S.
