“Sowing And Reaping”
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. ” Galatians 6:7 “I don’t know why my life is falling apart,” the elderly woman in my counseling sessions moaned. We went over her life: saved, but not in church, married a lost man, never told her children how to be saved, and now, her husband was leaving and her two children were turning to crime. She had no one she could call “pastor” to help her. I wanted to help. My hardest task was convincing her she had made choices that led to the present crisis. She was partially at fault; however, like so many, she blamed God. She had harvested the wasted life. If she had been truly saved, there was a path she should have taken. She did not take it…she chose another. The wasted life does several things to us: First, it distorts our spiritual perception, like the prodigal in Luke 15. Second, it draws us closer to the world, not to God; the prodigal joined himself to friends in the far country. Third, it places us under less compassionate authority; he was feeding swine for his new boss. Fourth, it changes our diet. He was feeding on what the pigs ate. Those that choose the wasted life don’t feast at God’s table. Fifth, it leaves us with a sense of emptiness and hopelessness. “…no man gave unto him.” SOW THE SEEDS OF THE TYPE OF LIFE YOU DESIRE! —G.G. February 24, 2020
