Sacrifices That Please God—Part 1
“Sacrifices That Please God—Part 1” “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. ” Hebrews 13:15-16 It is absolutely vital that we understand two aspects of pleasing God. First, we must please Him to have our sins forgiven and be saved. So, how can we do this? The truth is…we can’t! A sacrifice is required to please God, but we do not have the offering to give, and we are not qualified to make this sacrifice. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God and our great High Priest, took our sins on Himself at the cross, offering Himself as a sacrifice in our place. He pleased God for us! “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (I Peter 2:24). When we receive Christ by faith, God is forever pleased with us. Do you understand and believe this? Have you placed your faith totally in Christ and His shed blood? Good! Now you can understand the second aspect of pleasing God. There are some little sacrifices that we should make as a way of saying thank you to God. These things will cause God to say, “I like that; that pleases me.” (cont.) — R.C.
