“Enabled” … I Timothy 1:12
“Enabled”
“And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me in the ministry; ” I Timothy 1:12
Enabled is a Bible word found only one time in Scripture. It is expressed in many ways by Bible examples and plain teachings. The word enabled means to have been given the ability, by God, to accomplish His will. Our talents and gifts of the Spirit make us capable to do His work, for we have been enabled.
Too many saints are inactive, who would like to be active. They feel incapable of doing service for God. However, this is not right; it is bad thinking. We have been enabled by the Lord Jesus to do the specific calling designed for us personally.
The ministry, everything from giving out the Gospel to teaching a Sunday school class is a spiritual work. It will require spiritual ability. The Lord has given every saint the ability to serve in ministry. Not all will be led to preach, teach, lead, organize, promote His cause, but all will have some place designed personally for them.
Notice this verse, “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (I Peter 4:10). The truth is, we are responsible and expected to use our gift to make gain for Christ. We are called “…stewards of the manifold grace of God. ” As a steward, I have become an employee of the Lord Jesus! Glory to God! — D.B DAVID BROWN, Pastor, Central Baptist Church, Decatur, IL
