“The Final Authority”
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” II Timothy 3:16

As you make your choices, what is your final authority? When you get to the intersection of Main Street and the highway, what do you do? How many different times and ways do the signs need to say, STOP, before we agree we need to stop? I’ve been told, “It depends on how you interpret it!” and, “Perhaps if it was easier to understand.” Do you stop when no one else is around? What about your friend that you saw run the stop sign? Does that mean it is okay for you to go through it? I wonder, maybe you just don’t feel led to stop at the stop sign. Maybe you should talk to others and see what they think. You would probably stop if you agreed with it, wouldn’t you? Maybe that stop sign does not apply to you. You might ask, “Isn’t that kind of legalistic for me to obey the stop sign?” I mean you already have your license! Why do we treat the Scriptures that way? What is your final authority? Who is your final authority? To turn a phrase, “For me and my house we will stick with the King James Authorized Bible!” “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, 0 LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever “(Psa. 12:6-7). — R.K.
