A City Full Of Doctrine – Acts 5: 28
“A City Full Of Doctrine” “…ye havefilled Jerusalem with your doctrine, …”. Acts 5: 28b There is no doubt that the early days of the church in Jerusalem were exciting times. Thousands of people were being saved and baptized, and the apostles were leading the congregation in spiritual growth and zeal. The work of this local church was not confined to the church walls. Daily, both the preachers and lay people were out and about in Jerusalem, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They were in the temple, in the synagogues, in the streets and even in people’s homes preaching Jesus. The impact was such that everyone in Jerusalem knew what the church’s doctrine was all about. They knew what the preachers preached, and what the believers believed. There was little confusion or question about where the church stood. In your city or town, people may know your church is located. They may know your pastor or some of the members. But, do they know your church’s doctrine? Do they know what you believe? It would be impossible to impart on a lost person every aspect of Baptist doctrine, but he should know what our churches, our pastors, our members stand for on certain things and what we are against. There should be no doubt about our commitment to, and adherence to Bible doctrine in every area of our church and personal lives. May the folk around us truly recognize that we have filled our city with the doctrine of Jesus Christ. — P.F.
