December 7, 2020  · A question had been asked by ( by Romel Tunay Baclas) who was the first missionary to the Philippines? The answer would be Eric Lund who came to the Philippines in 1900 along with Braulio Minakin who he had led to Christ as a missionary in Barcelona, Spain. I was a little stumped initially as the two books I thought would have some answers on this didn’t. Armitage does list Lund but he was a missionary in Spain when he wrote his book. He was from Sweden originally. I am not sure there is much more on him before- I would suspect that there would be a link going back to JG Oncken at the Baptist Church in Hamburg Germany as they started many of the first works in Sweden.
