Proverbs. 28:21 says, “ Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” It’s past time to bring meaning, dignity and real power back to the English language.

People need to start calling what are often referred to as “public schools” what they are in fact, which is, “government schools.” The public school system—really, almost all of the educational institutions in this country from Kindergarten to the colleges and universities, have been taken over by an increasingly radical Left that has been in collusion with increasingly radical Left government; both of which have taken on the task of radicalizing America’s youth beginning as close a\as possible to the cradle and proceeding on through the nation’s graduate schools.

The U. S. Department of Education came into existence in 1980 during the one-term presidency of Democrat Jimmy Carter, who remained the most incompetent president in modern American history until the inimitable-for-incompetence Joe Biben stumbled into the Oval Office. Until 1980, schools were run on the state and local level by PTAs (Parent Teacher Associations) that worked together with school principles and teachers, etc.

The U. S. Department of Education, with over 4,000 employees and a federal budget of around 300 billion dollars has been a disaster to the education of America’s youth. Thankfully, the current Trump administration is making progress in fulfilling the President’s promise to eliminate this department which has for 44 years been a classic example of government over-reach and failure.

Thomas Hodgskin (1787-1869) said: “Men had better be without education than be educated by their rulers; for their education is but the mere breaking in of the steer to the yoke; the mere discipline of the hunting dog, which, by dint of severity, is made to forego the strongest impulse of his nature, and instead of devouring his prey, to hasten with it to the feet of his master.” How true.

Whether done consciouslly or unconscious, intentionally or unintentionally, the government-controlled education of America’s youth makes possiblethe government exploitation of America’s adult citizens. It is an evil enemy of individual liberty that parents should see as a hazard to to the \ intellectual health and futures of their children.

Peoeple should stop talking or thinking in terms of “public”schools, when what we have are really government schools. Words are powerful things. Repeated often enough they will effect for good or evil the minds and actions of (1) those who listen to them, and (2) those who use them. They need to be used correctly because, as Mark Twain once wrote: “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter. ‘Tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”
