Did Yours Come From Jesus?

“Did Yours Come From Jesus?”
“And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine
and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”
Acts 2:42
The apostles continued, persisted at, and perpetuated, or
passed on to the next generation the apostle’s doctrine. You
have to be careful; you have to get a good grip on truth. You
must be diligent with truth. The apostles got their doctrine
from Jesus, and if I got my doctrine from the apostles, and they
got it from Jesus, then I guess it’s still okay for me to hang on to
it and pass it on to the next generation. I don’t need some new
doctrine-I need the apostle’s doctrine.
The closer you get to the source, the purer the water is.
The farther downstream you go, the more impurities get into it
to corrupt it. I don’t need something new that somebody came
up with six months ago. I need to get back to the point of
origin if possible, and the source is the Book (the Bible). It’s
always right, it’s always the same, and it never changes.
Daniel was taught by his parents before he was carried off
to a pagan culture in the captivity. He took hold of the
instruction he learned and wouldn’t let go! “But Daniel
purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the
portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank:
therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he
might not defile himself” (Daniel 1:8). I’d stick with Daniel
and Jesus! -D.C.
