“The Holy Spirit Calls To Missions” “As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.” Acts 13:2 KJB

God’s call into His work is clear. If His call has been missed or confused, He only asks for our honorable correction. In one of my meetings in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) a Presbyterian pastor was saved. Later, he publically announced his error and stepped out of tne ministry. While on furlough in 1973, a Baptist pastor and his wife were both saved in their church near Atlanta and did the same. They acted honorably and did not have a “nervous breakdown” worrying over what some long-tongued Baptist would say! John Mark defected while on the field, but later returned to God’s work ((Acts 13:5; 15:36-41; with II Tim. 4:11). Demas forsook the ministry and vanished (Col. 4:14 & II Tim. 4:10). If you are unsure the Spirit’s call into missions, while waiting, go get a job. Then, let God Almighty take care of it. While in Australia a pitiful, confused American “missionary” grabbed me by the collar in a fit of anger, while standing in his front yard. He shouted, “Can you tell me if I’m supposed to be here!!!??? Scared stiff, I responded, “…it’s too late to ask that now.” He lasted another ten months • and returned to America. Holy Joe missionaries, who know all the answers but few of the questions shame supporting churches. Read II Timothy 4:9-22, the last plea of that great missionary, as he reached out for help to the best, true friend he ever had. It reveals Paul’s heart for missions, people and even fierce enemies. — R.P.
