This in not only the best written modern era Baptist history book- it is also one of the best written period. This is the American history that they did not teach you in school. Persecution was not limited to the fields of Europe but reared its ugly head in New England, Virginia and North Carolina. The late James Beller has written a well readable, engaging, and thorough history.
